So since we are moving home, I called Virgin earlier on today to tell them about the move.

During the conversation it turned out that us moving address (2 streets down nonetheless) meant that we would have to be tied in to another 12 month contract. Since this was the case I asked them what deal they were offering me then , as for some reason I was being treated as a new customer.

The guy cheerily told me they'd give us free broadband and our payment would only be £29.99 a month. After a few seconds of stunned silence on my part I explained that wouldn't make sense, since we are only paying £26 a month at the moment.

He then told me that was the best deal available to existing customers. I said that wouldn't be the case since I paid a whole £4 less a month on my existing contract. He then said yes, but we'd have a new contract

    Fan-tas-tic.

Needless to say I cancelled the whole thing and cancelled my direct debit with them. Fucking idiots.

Called Sky, getting HD TV, 20 mb unlimited broadband and free evening and weekend calls for £20 a month.

Girl, do you ever get done crying?

Going on the internets crying about the shite that happens to them is what other people do. Not us.

Give your fucking head a shake and get on with it, dearie.

    With love,

    G.

    I don't think I will.

The same thing happened to me a couple of months ago with Virgin Media.

    I had to lump it.

I'm completely sympathetic with the shite that's going down for you now, it must be terrible. Yet, if you're going to post on here about it, please expect what you read to be somewhat removed.

    You know I love you.

I can get equivalent services here, but not for nearly that cheap.

Same kinds of things happen here, Skweeky. These companies take it for granted that you (well, at least chalice) will just put up with their stupidity. They literally think they own you as a customer.

There have been disputes regarding some of the various Dish companies and territorial rights over consumers who could physically receive channels via their dish, but could not subscribe because those territories were "owned" by the other company.

    F'kn corporations.

    Way to stand up, Skweeks!
