I dont quite understand, the CPU's themselves dont make noise, just the Fans......Originally posted by _John_Lennon_+3 November 2003 - 04:30--></div><table border='0' align='center' width='95%' cellpadding='3' cellspacing='1'><tr><td>QUOTE (_John_Lennon_ @ 3 November 2003 - 04:30)</td></tr><tr><td id='QUOTE'>Originally posted by leonidas@2 November 2003 - 21:35

So I guess it's harder to cool a amd than a pentium ?
I ask that because noise is a very important issue for me.
Will it make a really noticable diiference?
The AMD traditionally run hotter, but the fans that come with either of them will probably be about the same in Db output.
But the main comparison factor in my mind is,
Description: Pentium 4 (2.4GHz, 512KB, 533MHz, Soc) $160.00
Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz, 384 KB, 266MHz, Socket A) $78.00
82 Dollars, for nearly the same performance.
Yes, but I won't buy a "Box" version anyway, I will put my own silent fans and heatsink.
So how more noisy do you think the AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz) is going to be compared to the Pentium 4 (2.4GHz)?
Cos if it's like twice noisy, I think I choose the pentium.
If you are buying your own silent fans, then they will sound the same, with similar fans running at similar Dbs. [/b][/quote]
I mean if the AMD gets hotter than the Pentium, then I'll have to cool it more, increasing my fans's speed, so it will make more noise. And as I said noise is a very important issue for me.
