Does Those Two Processors Have The Same Performa.?

Does those two processors have the same performances ?

AMD Athlon xp 2400 (2Ghz)

Intel Pentium 4 (2Ghz)

amd doesnt care bout clock speed the numbers simply mean it performs as much as good or close to a p4 2.4ghz

I would rather have thought that the pentium 4 was more performant than the AmD Athlon Xp when both have similar frequency.

nono amds are better performing but more power hungry

pentuims are less power hungy but less performace, thats why
alot of laptops have p4's

So I guess it's harder to cool a amd than a pentium ?

I ask that because noise is a very important issue for me.

Will it make a really noticable diiference?

The AMD traditionally run hotter, but the fans that come with either of them will probably be about the same in Db output.

But the main comparison factor in my mind is,

Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz, 384 KB, 266MHz, Socket A) $78.00

Yes, but I won&#39;t buy a "Box" version anyway, I will put my own silent fans and heatsink.

So how more noisy do you think the AMD Athlon XP 2400+ (2.0GHz) is going to be compared to the Pentium 4 (2.4GHz)?

Cos if it&#39;s like twice noisy, I think I choose the pentium.

I dont quite understand, the CPU&#39;s themselves dont make noise, just the Fans......

If you are buying your own silent fans, then they will sound the same, with similar fans running at similar Dbs.

Spend the extra few dollars to get the &#39;boxed&#39; unit. You get a much better warranty that way. Also for the price difference it&#39;s well worth it to have an extra cooler.

Agreed, I believe when I bought my 2500, to get it OEM, instead of with a HS and Fan, it was 3 dollars less,

3 bucks for a 2800RPM fan at the very least&#33; hah&#33; Good deal if I do say so myself.


BTW: I think the fan is 3200 RPM, I froget what sensor my MBM is reading for my Fan 1
