the obvious question being is the usb hactually formatted properly to be bootable.

When I F12, I see a Disc Drive, Floppy Drive, Hard Drive, or Network.

It doesn't have the first two, but I tried selecting the Disc Drive incase. It just restarts, starts booting XP, then blue screens and restarts.

Is it worth taking the battery off the mobo?! To reset the cmos, like. There's a small reset button on the underside which i've pushed lots. Doesn't seem to help.

    wot bo said.

did ewe ewse the pendrivelinux tool to make the ubuntu .iso bootable? so it formats it all in ext3 lyke?

have ewe tried a different usb port? some frontal/side ones can prevent ewe from booting to them.

in bios ewe said its set to boot to usb? having wake on usb can somethymes make a difference if your bios has it? also disabling fastboot if you have that option too lyke

I've just done all that. And properly.

I went for Ubuntu ntebook remix or something else. Is it worth using a slimmer OS like Puppy Linux.
