Finally got around to watching the first two episodes and while there were good points ( though melodramatic the husband with the scoped rifle - that he didn't shoot) it's already fallen into the pit of predictability. Sort of a Jericho with more blood.
I didn't particularly like Jericho btw , with it's increasing ludicrous storyline and it's emphasis on soap over character. I see the stereotypes and the silly soap aspect already happening with The Walking Dead.
AlsoSpoiler: Showit's pretty obvious that the racist character didn't die - see the convenient dropping of the bag full of saws - old adage ,when a writer introduces a gun in the first act ... and this will set up some stupid - like the best friend /adulterous wife thing - human against human conflict instead of centering the show on where it should be centered- on the zombies.
The creator of the show has stated that it's more about what happens to people when you strip all the nice little trappings of civilization from them, apparently that means you enter the land of soap .
Doesn't mean something like this has to be bad , the movie The Road did a decent job of conveying indomitable spirit in the face of hopelessness but I think to do that you need to really think about portraying more honest reaction than just "moving the story along"
Besides at this rate (expect for the Jericho lunacy ) I don't see how they can sustain the premise anyway .

There's only so much you can do with zombies though, which is why I think this show is going to fail. Something like Prison Break (first season of that was awsome btw, because it was intended to only last for one season). After 3 episodes it got kinda boring. Id just stick with the comic
