You probably wouldn't think they were imaginary situations if you watched local Arizona news where kidnapping involving illegal aliens (often called "drop houses") is a common news story.
As for the headless bodies, she meant the decapitating at the hands of the drug cartel along the border.
I'm sure if you lived closer to the border, you would also be concerned about what is going on down there.
