Im buying a new AMD AthlonXP 2500+!. I getting the OEM version so it is not coming with a heatsink or fan. I need to know what the best heatsink is because im planning on overclocking. I looked at a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ and I think that is what im going to get!
I wanted to know yalls suggestions about the best heatsinks?

why not buy the retail one, they come with a far better warrenty and arent much more. is the rest of your system compatible with your cpu?
I have a volcanoe 9 and it works quite well on my overclocked XP2200+.My temps are usually uner 40.The volcanoe 7 isn't quite as good as the 9 but they are up to the volcanoe 11 by now and they are not very expensive.

I will say the same thing. Get the retail version. It has a much better warranty and a spare cooler for only a few dollars. You can then get a better cooler if you want.
no, i have to get another mobo and some diff. ram but i dont ahve the money nowis the rest of your system compatible with your cpu?
so i should get the retail version and then just buy another heatsink and dont use the one that comes with it?

yea i guess ill just save up for all three parts i think i need around like $265 or something if i get them from newegg.com

For under $5 you can buy a fan adapter and mount a 80mm fan on the stock AMD HS and probably get just as good results as the Volcano.
If you're serious about managing the heat and plan on OCing check out Peltier cooling or water cooling or (even better) a combination of both.
