Kaspersky, Norton, MS, all good. AV test website lists reviews and tests for each AV vendor.

The top four are all good (Norton (Symantec), Avast, Bitdefender, Kaspersky). They are all pretty much the same as far as detection goes. The deciding factor is the extra features the Security Suites contain. Some include protection for Android and iOS devices.

A good complement to traditional antivirus software: https://www.novirusthanks.org/products/osarmor/

Not thus far, but I had a quick look at it recently and it seems very good, with options that even advanced users will find useful. A lot of people are using it on Windows XP, which has been mostly abandoned by regular security software.

The key is to be smart about what you are doing in the first place. The other thing is to hopefully get your virus definition database updated to protect against newest threats before you get it.

I really like Vipre. I works great and it doesn't slow down your computer!
