One of my first MoBo's was an AS rock and I had no problems with it. To be fair though is it good for what? Does it work? Does he just want to upgrade or what? We need some more info to give an honest opinion here bud. It's not a "bad" mobo but it's not nearly the best out there either.
Its brand new and needs something that will last 3 or 4 yrs as his motherboard stopped working. To get on the internet and download and play a few games online, some games off line but nothing to heavy. Copy and convert movies and songs.

Hmmm, well how much is the bundle cost? This will be a huge factor as well. Does he have a budget?
One thing I dont like it that the on board gfx only has a vga out, so that really is quite outdated

Perhaps, but personally I don't like the idea one bit of still using VGA out as a standard.
i prefere ASRock M3A790GXH/128M for unlocking cores
Assrock is Asus's budget brand or something.
I've no idea about their quality control or anything, but one can at least hope that some of the better aspects of Asus's engineering rub off, since they're a subsidiary and all (or was last I read about them).
WOW, long time no Snee!
