This might require a whole new PC.
    Now you're talking!

J/k. Did you try running the 'boot time" defrag?

K lets go from response to response....

about the diff brand disks....yes i did - the problem appeared with my "past" discs, and now that i bought 50 more (of which 7 are still virgins ) its the same problem....

well i dont think i wanna do a repair disk....well i know it could fix some things but i like format better.... what better way to clean up your pc.... either way, lets face the facts: format and repair are practically the same....since the actual problem (or maybe take-time problem) is installing progs+games+everything and configuring it... i prefer just deleting everything so that theres no room for fragmented things or virii (which i dont have)....

about the boot-time defrag.... i think thats what Defragmenter Pro Plus does.... i left at night then at morning it was done.... but i dunno if it worked... i havent burned yet

    any more ideas?

    Thx

Mate i cant see it being from your hd fragmented. If it has probs caching the files,,near enough all your programs & windows would be running a bit slow.i'd go with somthing to do with dma.Double check them again on all drives.Go to nero tool kit>nero info tool>configuration tab,,,it'll say dma on/off.You could also check how fast its caching the files,

Nero>file>preferences>cache...then press the test drive speeds.Other than ...i dont know.

That does seem a little slow, mine takes around 4 minutes for a full CD.

    [/QUOTE]

It is set for dma mate ..but its obviously not available. You must have a conflict somewhere mate ,it could even be with xp.I've read it got a few problems with dma.You could see if there's an update for you motherboard or see look for some ide controllers for your board.Tri updating all your drivers, just have a mess around in that area and hope it goes away.

I rembr ,,about the xp /dma problem was form a post of lynx's.Something about if the drive has 3ish errors it reverts back to poi mode.Maybe look in to that too.

Oh you're gonna kill me for bumping this thread, but oh well.

Ok, I actually fixed this problem (temporarily) with a little program (from Via) that forced my drive into using UDMA mode. The problem is, however, that the problem returned (who knows why), and I need that little program again. The other problem, however, is that I forgot the name of the program, and I have too many cd's to go through to look for it.

It was something like Via IDE Controller, or something like that.

So if the person that let me know last time about this program, please come forward and enlighten me again

Just a suggestion here , but i wouldnt be burning vid files at 48 anyway, they will have problems reading if u do , i always burn at 12 to 16 for movies on avi, and even slower if they are vcd
