Thread: The Things You Learn At The Movies?

    Some computer-related ones:

    • Floppy disks can fit as much data as a DVD5.
    • All computers are interconnected.
    • Any hacker can enter the Pentagon's securest data systems by guessing the password on the second attempt.
    • 72px is the standard font size for any GUI.
    • You can screw any system typing the command "UPLOAD VIRUS".
    • You're automatically asked for a password upon opening an encrypted file.
    • The more modern a computer is, the more buttons it has. However, everyone must be really trained, because the buttons aren't labeled. (Except the "SELF-DESTRUCT" one)
    • Monitors are so bright they project the image on people's faces.
    • Any 56K modem can transfer data at around 2GB/s.
    • You can zoom any crappy photograph to infinity with perfect detail.
    • If you're using a file stored on a network drive, the program you used to open it will automatically close when someone deletes it. Undeletion and file recovery isn't possible, except for small pieces of Word documents containing enough data to catch the bad guy.
    • The NASA, CIA and NSA computers have ultra-easy-to-use GUI systems any dork can use. And the ones that do not, take written commands in colloquial English.
    • Every computer has its own operating system.

David Lightman: Yeah. Weird isn't it?
    Jennifer: Yeah.
David Lightman: [typing] Love to. How about Global Thermonuclear War?
Joshua: Wouldn't you prefer a nice game of chess?
    [Jennifer laughs]
David Lightman: [typing] Later. Let's play Global Thermonuclear War.
    Joshua: Fine.

So does any car that turns on its roof, although it will begin to catch fire for a short while before it explodes.

    Nice pic!

and if someone's going to do you harm, they'll tell you all about it first - giving you enough time to get them first
