Every site inspires members to seed , some just have nastier ways of doing it.

Sounds daft, doesn't it, but we have members who genuinely seed because they want the community to prosper, and that is what makes fsc special.
That's pretty cool and I commend you for it. Must be a great community there.

Most of us aren't members though so we got to deal with what we got. And what we have are a lot of trackers that have crappy retention rates. It's especially bad for the common 0day tracker that gets all the new scene releases and nothing much else. Unfortunately the vast majority of trackers are the general 0day type, so you'll find the same issues at most of them like older torrents being poorly seeded or dead. Or if whatever your looking for was never released by the scene or a p2p group it may just not exist. Really sucks when your looking for an old show or movie and you can't find it so you end up having to go to warez-bb or emule. Fortunately there are places like KG, cinematik, and some others that specialize in older movies and movies you won't usually find at other trackers.

The same problems can still happen at those trackers too, it's up to the members to decide how long they are going to seed something and eventually most torrents will die when the seeders lose interest in them. I know you can always request a torrent or a reseed if you need it that badly, its just not something I feel comfortable doing too often. Besides, requests won't always work if your whatever your requesting doesn't exist on somebody's hdd anymore. I guess thats real reason DDL is so popular and emule is still being used, for the most part nothing ever dies.

The phrase "forest for the trees " comes to mind here.

Let's not get carried away .Change the statement to "we have a few members who genuinely seed because they want the community to prosper , quite a lot who do so to appear proper in the sight of the staff and the community at large and some who don't really give a fuck " as do coincidentally pretty much any other site and it would be nearer to the truth.
Those people who actually care but are largely unsung should be applauded everywhere , not just at "special places" like FSC.

Btw I'm not trying to slur FSC here but seems that you are either not giving some other sites enough credit or FSC too much.

Happy Birthday FSC and I just want to thank all the people who make it possible for this little spot on the web to keep on going on as a community of people who love sharing and caring about its members.

Sorry FoX, I accidentally mentioned to Idol where the party was. I'll be more careful not to let it slip next time.

No, but they did open the invite application thread again. Mind you, chances of being invited that way are extremely low.

The key to getting in there is to know someone who trusts you, and can give enough details about you to show that you could be potentially interesting/fun/valuable.

Following general rules of civility is expected- that includes being respectful in forums, as well as seeding, etc. Probably the biggest problem facing (most sites) would be members who get in, then don't contribute. With a club like this, there is an expectation that you will bring something to the site.

My advice- get involved on your favorite sites. Join in on the fun, the discussions, maybe even throw around some projects you are interested in. Then do them. Get to know people who share common interests some of these people may be able to conjure up an invite (usually granted as a favor return, etc...

Good luck- It isn't difficult IF you are trustworthy, active, interested, and interesting.
