Several times i found blurays there that hdbits didnt have.
Many times i downloaded blurays from usenet when i couldnt get it via hdbits because of 1-2 seeders left with slow upload rate.
And retention is still growing

Let me tell you this- usenet ownz in terms of Blurays, BDRips,movies,games and soft.

It's not just about content; it's about people also. On irc and on the forums, you'll be able to speak to real people. A bittorrent tracker has a community. Usenet doesn't have a community.

You know, two days before I was banned from hdbits, Firon was actually nicer to me than he usually had been. We were discussing a music album, and I asked people in the channel what band made that album. He said, "Junkie XL" and I thought to myself, "Oh how great that he's nicer to me today than he usually is." I really loved the fact that he responded to my question about what band made that album.
