Thanks a lot ! I'm having an issue . Most of the times i can't connect to the server . All i get is connection timed out . I'm using newsleecher btw

Use their NewsRover which should be included with your account. I use it and never had an issue with connections... Soo much better than another one I used to use

You can use ANY newsclient, Stabber, not just News Rover. You just need to input "news.newsgroupdirect.com" as the server. I think that News Rover is a very good newsreader for reading and posting text messages (and decent for viewing pictures) but it makes a rather awkward NZB downloader: it can do the job, but not very efficiently compared to the more modern NZB-specific clients.

Everything works well on this Newsgroup Direct account. No SSL/20 connections. The only (small) downside is that they use Highwinds.

The user panel says it is 20(22) gig/month. Definitely the most generous "trial" I've ever had, and no credit card needed.

I'll try to grab another block account whenever Newsgroup Direct has another half-price sale - hopefully soon.

Thanks newcster68. A little more information would be helpful. I seem to recall that Newsgroup Direct has in the past offered free 1 gig/month and 2 gig/month accounts (no cc# needed)

Is this 'invite' something along those lines? Or is it something more? Or is a credit card required?
