Thread: Wmv - Licenced Files

1. #1
I stupidly downloaded a film in wmv format, then discovered to my horror that it requires a licence. I've googled everywhere and can't find anything. How do you play WMV files that require a licence? Can AVI files also require a licence? If so how would you play those?

i'm pretty sure the DRM/license thing only works with WMV and WMA files. dunno how to get around it. maybe you could use a program like TmpgEnc to convert the WMV to MPEG or something, so you can watch it.

I've tried getting rid of this WMP9 but it came with the system, and no matter what you do, it still hangs about totally ballsing up your system.
I'll look into the converting of the file, especially as the avi version I downloaded has some error in the file.

YOU WOULD BE SUPRIZED, ITS DEFAULT UPGREAD TO WMP9 lc

you have to un-check it in order NOT to upgread

and you cab't get rid of it once you get it, not even system restore
