Does anyone know how or where i can download all of the current windows 98se system updates?
preferably together, like in a .zip, or some means of initiating a single download. rather than having to navigate http://www.microsoft.com/windows98/d.../corporate.asp and 'save target' each of the files individually

going back to windows update on each install of windows is lame,
surely someone knows a better way!
[or at least i hope so]

i want to backup the updates so that i can patch future installs of windows

    thanx in advance

    e

When the update downloads finish, before they install, cancell the update and look for the windows update temp folder. Copy it to another partition or to CD and then restart your updates. MS will find the temp folder again and finish the install. You won't have the activex installation script next time but it's still better to have a local copy and install them offline.

Microsoft has recently upgraded Windows Update to include another section called Windows Update Catalog, accessible through the same Windows Update interface. From the Windows Update Catalog you can review all the operating system updates that have been issued as well as the driver updates for hardware devices. To access Windows Update Catalog:

    thanx LTJBukem,
    do you mean; http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/catalog/ ?
    looks very promising,
    i'll try that tomorrow.
    fingers crossed

wish i could get the files as an archive that i could use a download manager to transfer

No mate, you need to change the settings on the left in the Windows update page.

Check out the link i gave you; all will become clear.
