Yes I could have, but you have to play to the level of the audience or it is a wasted effort.
Actually, had others joined in instead of shooting it down immediately, (you know who you are) it could have been better. Instead, within 5 minutes, some d-bag has to jump in and spoil any chance of the thread catching.
Thanks to those who did play along- imagine if no one spoiled it, and there was 4 pages of people reporting that they, too, had heard the same thing. That's what I was hoping for. You know, FUN...

Problem was that there were a number of april fools threads existing already in the invite section, a sufficient number of users were "playing along" by actually being genuinely stupid, and things were getting old fast.
I stand by my pseudo philosophical statement btw. We are being fooled every day without even knowing.
