    Finally they took him down.

As someone who masterminded and sanctioned the killing of thousands of innocents, he had to be hunted down until the day he died.
That only happened 10 years later, and at the cost of many lives, but it sends a clear signal to all the terrorist organizations who may want to attack another sovereign nation: we will go after you, no matter how long it takes.

Basically, it's the same retaliation policy Israel has been doing for decades.

I just have to chime in.

For all of you who think that Barack Obama had anything to do with this, you are fucking delirious!!!

It was our soldiers and CIA that got him, NOT OBAMA !!!

And regardless how you feel about the US military, they don't generally go out of their way to kill innocent civilians, while terrorists are just the opposite....Innocent civilians are their main target.

I'm never happy to hear someone died...But that doesn't mean he didn't deserve what he got. He was responsible for many other deaths over the years, not just the people on 9/11.
I am not making sound like a victim. He's another death (among thousands), but at least his was not entirely senseless. I'm just worn out on this. I cannot get "excited" to hear of anyone dying. I mentioed his poor health because someone else (an uninformed, earlier poster) questioned how I knew he was old (uhmmm, his birth date of 1957) and his poor health (news reports discussing his poor health and how he would be able to receive dialysis in caves). As I said, rough decade. My body aches after a weekend of camping with a tent...

I'm completely sick of this war. One does not even need to be a "conspiracy nut" to now we went in to the wrong country, and have been mowing down "terrorists" with small arms who became "terrorists" only after we invaded their country with Apache helicopters with night vision and 1000 round per second machine guns.

I ask you this, pro-war, dead Bin Laden celebrators: if another country invaded yours and flew over your homes with helicopters, and roamed your streets with armed military personnel, would you not become "terrorists" and protect your homes, and your sovereignty? I sure as fuck would.

I'll repeat: we are in the wrong country if we are hunting down those responsible for 9/11. Hint: the terrorists responsible were almost all from Saudi Arabia... As for "terrorist training camps", any of those would have been obliterated in the past decade. All we have forming are those who are now pissed off that we won't leave.

I do imagine this will be a well-celebrated day in communities with pick-up trucks, gun racks, cheap beer, and a lack of accurate, in-depth news sources. For those among us, feel free to C&P this, it will save you the misspelling: "Yeah America, we got that son of a bitch! Now Satan can punish him in Hell!!!"
I'm more or less with megabyteme on this one .Considering that the Seal team (apparently) had orders to kill not capture this is a tad closer to retribution than it is to justice.

Also of profound irony and fuel for endless conspiracy theories.
.... body was loaded on to one of the helicopters and taken from the scene. US officials later confirmed he had been buried at sea, mindful of the Islamic imperative for a speedy burial. The location was not revealed. "We don't want a bunch of people going to the shrine forever," an official told the Washington Post.
Btw I'm going with captured and walled up someplace in attempt to wring whatever intelligence he might still possess out of him.
    Respect my lack of authority.

@Anyone in General(Just Curious of Ideas)

So, we're worried about offending a group of people (Muslims), instead of having some physical proof that terrorist is dead? Is that why he was buried per Islamic code. (I'm pretty sure they were more offended by the acts going on at Gitmo.) Terrorists and Muslims are separate groups of people, anyways. And I believe the rest of the Muslims(the non radicals), they are probably just as happy as the rest of the world. He was a discredit to the religion and the culture. He created a stigma against Muslims around the world. I'm pretty sure they felt it was time for him to go. Not to mention one can easily locate pictures of Sadaam Hussein's corpse who was a devout Sunni Muslim.

    I mean Obama stated tonight

Bin Laden was not a Muslim leader. He was a mass murderer of Muslims.
So why is the body of a mass murderer of Muslims being handled in accordance with Islamic tradition?

Cut-Copy-Paste, please don't insult me by calling me brainless and then proceed with a conspiracy theory

godofhell, if somehow they had failed to take him down, you would have blamed Obama.

megabytene: "I'll repeat: we are in the wrong country if we are hunting down those responsible for 9/11. "

You just showed how ignorant you are. Let's make this an analogy maybe even your brain can understand... suppose someone breaks into your house (steals a plane), shoots your wife (kills the pilots), points a gun at your children (hold passengers hostage), and then proceeds to blow up your house (eh, make the connection yet?). You're saying the police (US Gov't) should not even try to find the people that made them do it? Maybe you believe in the ridiculous conspiracy theories, but I guarantee your family would want revenge... or maybe not, seeing as who you really are underneath, maybe you're the terrorist!

Or, maybe you are right.. all crime should go unpunished! Let's let the terrorists have free reign across our country, take away all the no-fly lists and let them bring lighters and bombs on planes...

You do realize that your over-generalizations and stereotypes are just as bad as the people you are stereotyping right?

You show your own ignorance and hypocrisy by bashing others for something you do yourself.

BTW my last comment has nothing to do with your thoughts about the war in Iraq or any other political or socio-economical views you may have. It simply comments on your hypocrisy.

Minutes after Obama finished his speech, the cameras showed a group of people out in front of the White House waving flags. Where does one get a full sized American flag on a six foot steel pole at midnight in the nations Capital. Most of the flags I saw were full or near full sized which seemed awful fishy too me, as if the White House ordered all its employees working that night to grab a flag and go outside and wave it.
Then this morning its revealed that they know its Osama from DNA. What? You can't do a DNA test in a few hours! Finally they say he was buried at sea, gee how convenient. This whole thing stinks of some dastardly plan by the powers to be. Then I realized what probably really happened. It came to me after they said no Americans were hurt and that one helicopter was shot down. If a helicopter were really shot down there would likely be injured Americans and what better way to explain one less helicopter came back to the ship, than to say it was shot down. It's more likely the lost helicopter had the real Osama on it, alive and ready for information extraction. He was probably taken somewhere secret. Wouldn't you think he could supply some good intel if pressured properly? I had to laugh when someone at the White House or Military said they buried him at sea to prevent any conspiracy theories. What? For gods sakes that's the way you start a conspiracy not prevent it.
I haven't trusted this corrupt Government for some time now. I don't think this story is going to hold water, and it's certainly not going to bring back my trust. So you say you got Osama, well how about doing something about the oil prices or cable TV mini monopolies and phone fee corruption now HUH? Fix that which robs our pocket books and we can pay more taxes.
