But...

if they lower the price on the 360 (which they would probably do anyway) and introduce the 720 at a premium price, they would get the best of both worlds. People who can't afford the 360 now would probably not buy a 720 anyway, but they might jump on the lower priced 360. Especially if the 360 games drop a little too. I suspect the Kinect will be forward compatible, so its not even in the equation.
