    I don't understand why Microsoft could not create its own internet telephone network, bundle it in with Windows 7, and drive Skype out of business - Netscape-style.

    But then in another 10 years from now, maybe every cell-phone will come with free worldwide calling, and there will be no need for a long-distance service like Skype.

    There not just buying a telephone network, there buying a massively popular and well known brand name

    That's what Apple is trying to do with their own FailTime btw.

    I wouldn't mind it at all as it would most likely suck moar (if even possible) than the infamous Intranet Exploder.
