Why is Brooklyn college so fond of umlauts? Having thoroughly enjoyed my undergraduate academic experience and now having undergraduate students of my own, I find it an incredible when students loathe their college ventures. There's really no point to it, you'll likely get fired quickly from any position for which your degree may have qualified you, and that's years of working regular jobs earning income that you missed out on due to the delay.

You need to read back through this thread, and Oleg's post history. He has zero intention of getting a job and academic credits are just a way to break up the boredom. Explaining academic merit or work ethic to Oleg is about as useful as training a brick in Tai Chi .

My message wasn't really directed at Oleg, it's to all the other kids out there. My most pressing question goes unanswered, what's with the umlauts?

I was speaking German earlier, so I guess it just connected/resonated with my personality today.

I learned German between the ages of 12 and 15. It started off well, but mein development was interrupted by this herr positioned adjacent to me, newly introduced from another school, who made me laugh all the time and, strangely, made me feel uncool whenever I gave in to learning anything.

I recall my once goose-stepping Teachinfurher reduced to antiblitzen when it was abundantly clear that German was deader than Latin.

I think some of us died a little inside at that moment. Some of us even started growing our hair.

Must be nice for an English speaker to be able to study a language other than Spanish before high school. This is 'Merica, gracias por favor, no hay carpetas.

My entire auxiliary language base was picked up in college, as I filled most of my elective schedule with Russian, German and Serbo-Croatian, while studying Greek and Chinese on the side at Border's and among friends. I am lower than a child's level of communication in most of them (I can at least tell them to stop feeding me). The German today was prompted by my in-laws calling me Dr. Schnitzel. Praise the schnitzel.

I need to go to the laundromat and get my clothes. Then I need to buy one bottle of St. Ides beer and get drunk 'cause I want my thoughts to become dull. It's after 4 pm, and I... man... I don't know what else to say.
    I love FST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jebus. A decent contemporaneous read here.
Several :earl: moments in the first three pages of this exquisitely constructed piece of forumular art.

    Chap-fucking-eau, chalice.
I plan on beating him to death with his kids. I'll use them as a bludgeon on his face. -

--Good for them if they survive.
