Are you talking about adding a HDD in addition to the one you already have?

Or replacing your current one?

If your using XP, just go into computer management, then click disk management. and click on the new drive, and you will have the option to format it there.

With other Os, you can use the format commands in Dos.
Does anyone else know, can you format a drive in other version of windows, I've never done that before.

I think you can do it the same way as in xp.

Well, You don't have all the administrative tools in other version of windows, well, except the NT version.
I think I remember in explorer just being able right click, and click format, but I know you could do it with the floppy, but I really don't think you could actually do that with HDDs, I may be wrong though.

I always just formated using Dos, in those day, I tried to find a link on google for it, but all the links poped up as how to format in dos.

Repartition it as well if you want it completely clean, if you got an XP disc it can be done through the installer, then you can reformat from your regular OS without a glitch.

Otherwise a startdisc should do it.
