Thread: looking for a good usenet server

  1. #1
    ive been looking to find a good free usenet server for months now. ive tried justfortoday but the retention is only 14 days. ive tried contacting in threads and pming users that have stated there are good servers with fast speeds and lots of retention all for free if i just take the time to look. im about to call bullshit on that because every so often for the past few years i try looking again and come up with nothing, and im not one of those noobs who spends no effort finding their own answers and just asks someone first. ive looked hard and my google fu hasnt failed me before. i dont need a whole noob tutorial. just someone to point me in the right direction.

    maybe the ipv6 is what they're referring to? I don't know, in this case paying $11/mo is much easier than going through all that hassle for a solution that's not permanent.

    As far as free servers go, I don't think any of them are going to offer amazing speeds and great retention.

    This is a snapshot of my Sabnzbd Usenet-client that I use without any kind of paying subscription at all.

    Translation:
    Omvang = Total Size Downloaded
    Deze maand = Downloaded this month
    Deze week = Downloaded this week.

    Keep in mind I deleted my history about 3 months ago.
    thats with 500+ days retention

    Like I said before, I think they are referring to IPV6 servers. IPV4, which we are using now would be VERY easy to setup to use so I don't think he's talking about that.

    Because it's an IPv4 server. Do you know how to use Wireshark?

    Lol ... I never said that was the only tric up my sleeve

    The OP asked for a 'good' free usenet server and I gave him one.

    I all my options eventually stop working, I'll get me a paid subscription, but for now it has been working for many many months.

    Sounds rough, like rougher than losing out on $11/mo
