As far as I know, the amount of processing power required to emulate the Xbox360 environment makes it impossible, or extremely impractical, to do so with currently available hardware.

    The disks dont spin backwards...

The data on a 360 dvd is backwards, the laser in the 360 is capable of reading it backwards.

Theres no way to emulate 360 games on the pc.

*most* of the 360 games, are out for pc too, so might aswell get them on pc.

    Frankthetank1:
The disk drive is no where near the issue...... The xbox 360 dvd drive can easily be installed in a computer with a simple power mod
Not to mention disk support for a 360 emulator is going to be highly unlikely, as it will most likely utilize game data from your hard drive.

    Op's long answer:
The whole 360's architecture hasn't been documented completley yet.
There has been some advancements on the hacking of the xex (xbox executable) by xorloser that were halted by microsoft early on.
Jtag and so on was spawned through all the reverse engineering.

What most people don't understand is that to run a 360 game on a computer we would need to "emulate" that system.
Basically, we would have to create or mimic a virtual 360 system in our windows environment. There are many factors that could potentially make this harder..

The xbox 360 utilizes PowerPC instruction set architecture where as most pcs are familiar with the x86/x64 programming architecture.
We would have to convert PowerPc instruction set into something a x86/x64 would even understand. The xenon chip in the 360 is 64 bit meaning it would be at least twice as slow on a x86 environment.
*Twice as slow as the x64 which would already be slowed from the instruction set conversions. \

The real problems arise when the gpu is looked at. The xenos is the real deal breaker here.
The specs are actually pretty bad compared to today's new gpu's, but the documentation on the gpu is super poor.
Alot of information regarding it is just speculations made. Personally I doubt anyone could successful reverse engineer it to render anything. (any time soon)
Not to mention, games use 360 unique gpu features to speed up or enhance output. This will most likely be useless and will actually be more task worthy on the emulator.

The xbox basically is believed to run on a win 2k kernal, although the api differs greatly. Thankfully this documentation is abit more broad...

    Conclusion....

There isn't enough documentation to fully complete an emulator yet, and even if one is made soon it is speculated that we won't have computers
able to run it. For the time being.... Buy and xbox or wait for the xbox game to come out for the pc...
