well ive had an optorite 52x cd writer for 5 months and its the nuts, no problems at all, and on that basis i would buy an optorite dvd burner if i needed onedont know what pioneer pc stuff is like, but its a good brand name.....depends on the features and speed of writing and the type of discs each will write....the choice as they say is yours

I haven't seen any 8x DVD media yet, but I suppose it's only a matter of time.

I have 3 of the pioneers and I can honestly say that they are bulletproof.
They are the pirates choice mate.

the pioneer series is extremely reliable-- the 104, 105 & 106 models are all held in very high esteem by reviewers & users. if you are really determined to get an 8X burner though, maybe you oughta hold off for a little while until the pioneer 107/A07 comes out.
but a 4X dvd writer is nothing to scoff at. burning a full DVD in 15 minutes isn't bad at all.
