That kind of mentality is alarming. Unfortunately, I do not believe that ANY of our corporations governments are above that sort of thing.

Google'd up images, posted by medianama.com. does this ban is in specific region in India ? or ISP wise ? Google-news says its blocked.
MediaNama has also confirmed that the block was instituted because the Delhi High Court passed a John Doe order, allowing Reliance Big Pictures to prevent piracy of its movie Singham. Reliance Big Pictures then told ISPs to prevent the sharing of the film Singham online, because of which ISPs blocked access to filesharing sites. Details here.

Tor ain't for downloading warez. Don't use it for that.
Why would you hide if you have nothing to hide? I mean I understand some people in some positions are in need of extra privacy, but the regular joe would not really need this as if you do not do anything illigal, there is prolly no-one watching you. Beside that torrents, newsgroups and those blocked website all are not created for the purpose of downloading illigal stuff, but for sharing normal legal files or to discuss.

I find it a shame website like these are blocked. In general these sites are used to share normal files (mods and the likes) and not illigal stuff and some of them are really trying to keep there website clean of illigal content.

Great. Now they have to block proxies, mailproviders which allow attachments, ftp, https, bt, emule, cryptography in general and still have to use deep packet inspection. Nice move. Have fun india programmers working for oversees companies - you are out of job.
