Even the cadence to the dialogue is right out of Twin Peaks.

Kilmer really stank in the trailer. I can only imagine how excruciating watching him in the whole movie will be.

Anyone else think it's past due for him to quit? He looks like he's trying to play this role as Steven Seagal without the cool Aikido moves...

Val Kilmer can actually act I think, like I alluded to, the deadpan and the off-putting cadence are intentional like in Twin Peaks or The X Files.
Reason why anyone would choose to do it that way I have no idea.

Btw everyone talks about actresses aging badly but Kilmer,Mel Gibson and Alec Baldwin demonstrate it's not limited to the gentler sex.

Since he played a young, thin, short-haired, genius-type early in his career, maybe he's now showing his "range" by playing this role as a poorly-aging, fat guy with a ponytail, and a slow, dim wit.

However, I thought trailers were supposed to get people interested in watching the movie. This one had quite the opposite effect on me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not usually a Kilmer hater, and have actually liked a lot of his career (skip the past few years). I just think this role will be more of a coffin nail than a "he nailed it"...

It's a festival trailer so you are suppose to feel like you don't get it otherwise the people who pretend they do couldn't feign superiority.
Geez next thing you'll be wanting me to explain how it's possible for bell bottoms to be cool and then not cool and then cool again.

Now much as I like the six inch spike yukfest this is my alltime favorite quote from a movie:

But then the movie has sooooo many other great lines

prof Hathaway: I want to see more of you in class
Chris Knight: Fine, I'll gain weight

prof Hathaway: Do you still run, Knight ?
    Chris Knight: Only when chased

Chris Knight: Then in the midst of my preparations for hara kiri I thought of Socrates who said " I drank what ?"
