Two things I never liked about Newsdemon:

1. a (reported) history of throttling high-volume users and then denying it. I've not seen such complaints in a long time, but a few years ago these complaints were common among people who got the $10 or $11/month unlimited specials. Apparently the people who paid the full price (around $25/month) never got throttled.

2. A history of exaggerating retention. (For years Newsdemon claimed a week more retention than Newshosting and Usenetserver listed on their sites, when in fact the actual (Highwinds) retention numbers were identical.)
