I found a semi hidden link to properly delete your account on facebook off some site, I'm sure it even said it'll be deleted on the screen and non recoverable. I hope this was right...

That link does "delete" your account instead of just deactivating it. It's what I used it when I killed my account after deciding I had nothing to do there. However, as it is the case with most major services on the Internet these days, it doesn't really remove your data from the server (or backups) for good.

They could "kill" it if they were to launch a never-ending ddos attack that lasted for as long as Facebook was a company. I somehow doubt they could do that.
