    ok i'm trying to split a movie right but when i always try to set the end frame the program freezes and yes i have restarted.

    If the file you're converting is .wmv (or even certain types of .avi's), sometimes TMPGEnc takes a few seconds to jump to the frame you want. Try waiting a while before restarting you PC and see if it comes back. If not, as long as you know what frame you want to end with, you can just type that number into the 'End frame' box, then click OK (don't push 'Move to end frame' or it'll lock up again). If it still won't work, as a last resort you could always use another program like Virtualdub or EO Video to convert the entire file to uncompressed avi or mpeg first, then use TMPGEnc to split it. In fact you could even split the file with EO Video, but I prefer to use TMPGEnc because it gives you more options.
