Ratio-free systems are nice for the end user, but they can be detrimental for the tracker's long-term retention and speed.

In short: it's relying on people not insta-deleting their shit after seeding it for three days.

The poster made a definitive statement, apparently one without any subjectivity, so I asked for an explanation as to why more trackers needed this... sorry if that wasn't clear...

I'm sure all/most trackers also need an endless supply of funds and hardware to provide better services/speeds etc for their users, but that's self explanatory and needs no clarification. Of course, the user in question may only have been posting what 'more trackers needed' from his/her own perspective and what makes things easier for him/her... hence more trackers don't 'need' to be ratio-free at all... (s)he would just prefer it... there's a big difference...
