if you only knew how much stuff is founded due to "searching within archives" feature.In terms of seeing into archive sets
Are you suggesting that i should download everything named like "&GYgguyfdg" in my way to find what i want? =))
This feature alone pwns any other search service .

Ok, I don't get it. I paid for Newsbin a few days ago but did NOT pay for the search. Just now for kicks I tried it, and not only can I find stuff, I can actually download it straight from the search results. Free trial or what?

Cool... I tried it now too (and I'm an OLD customer) and it works.
They give free access now and then to promote it.
Search will always work. Adding files to the download list though requires a sub. Everyone gets 10 free file downloads to try it out.
As for looking into the files to determine what's what, work has started on adding that.

Yeah, you can learn alot from the first chunk, of the first rar in a set of files. Newsbin already looks inside the first archive, when you have it set to filter out encrypted files.

Looking inside the first rar file works perfectly well when there is only one file in the archive, but not when there are multiple files in the archive or rars inside rars (usually, but not always, a clear sign of a fake release)
I'd still like to know how a site like Mysterbin does it, as downloading the full usenet feed of 8TB a day would not come cheap.
Another small complaint I have with Newsbin/Newsleecher/UE built-in searches is that they only offer RAW search, and not "AUTO-INDEXED" search as found in NZBs.org and Newznab. Although I personally prefer raw search (the ONLY way to find rare content) it seems a lot of users prefer auto-indexed search, since it greatly helps in doing the work of weeding out most of the junk, creating content indexes, and greatly simplifies finding popular material. (Auto-index is not so much for geeks, but for the other 90% of internet users)
Since I believe Newznab is open-source and (I assume) could easily be adapted to work within any newsreader -- it's already in Newsflash Plus -- I've got to wonder why an auto-index feature has not been added as a second option to paying customers of Newsbin, Newsleecher, or Usenet Explorer?

i dont particularly like newznab "auto-index".. It leaves out too many releases..
And newznab's raw search is almost non-existent.
Also, for some reason newznab developers haven't implemented search within archives though newznab is perfectly capable of showing almost full file list that is found within a given archive. What stops them from modifying their search so that it scans through these lists? I dunno
Also, im not sure it would be a good idea for a paid legal service to present data uploaded to usenet like newznab does with all those covers, imdb links and such like.

RAR's don't have a directory structure. At least from what I've seen. You can't look at one and find the total filename list for the entire set of files. So, you have to traverse the RAR to find all the files. That said, how much do you really need to know? File and set encryption and maybe the first couple filenames. Looking at most of the viral RAR spam. Just knowing the first filename in the RAR is enough to filter. For a valid file set, considering the most chunks are 600ish, you could unrar the first chunk and still figure out perhaps quality and language of the contained files.
