Dear M$,
I've enjoyed your Win7 release for a couple of years now, and I've enjoyed your game console and lack of cutthroat litigation against hardware modifiers of these platforms. You're selling your OS in China for the equivalence of $30 to combat piracy over there while keeping the price high everywhere else, cool story. However, I've never seen your phone OS make an impact (maybe they will when the front end matches other devices @ Win8). However, stop trying to make so much money on mobile phone technology by means similar to Apple. I'm pretty sure I'm going to find your Win8 release really annoying, and a bit of a flop. Keep your kudos high while you can.
Thanks -Sated Windows user.

Respect my lack of authority.
Well being affiliated with a University has its perks. My copy of Win7 Ultimate was purchased for $17. Nevertheless, I still don't agree with their retail pricing strategy. It can be had for less than $100 on Newegg IIRC.

I don't agree with the retail pricing strategy of a lot of things so I don't see your point. I mean I've been suffering with a bad back so I looked into rollers .Forty-five bucks for a piece of foam.Justify that.Win7 looks like a bargain at that rate.
The fact that we live in a world were a high percentage of people are perfectly happy to see others starve so that they amuse themselves with a second car ( or mobile phone) should hardly come as a shock to you.

To be a bit more specific, I'm talking about how they range it. A product that sells between $17-$300, there's not a lot of products that will be legitimately sold @ 5.5 % of full retail. It's like suddenly being able to buy your roller for $3 because of some circumstance. Of course those are 2 completely different things, physical product vs. licensing.
Well you can always buy used, like at a yard sale. Offer $3 and if they complain, go into Microsoft's Windows OS pricing scheme. At the very least they'll sell it to you for $3 just to stop hearing about it.

I use Ubuntu Linux. money paid for OS = $0![]()
When I set up my HTPC, I spent 36 hours trouble shooting all the issues with LIRC. I would have probably had it set up in 2 hours using Windows since by default IR input is well supported and autohotkey works like miraclagic. I just have to figure out if 34 hours of my time = $0.
Why did I do it? Because the use of all my other machines require Windows to be my OS, and here I had an opportunity to embrace free and open source Linux as a solution, then it gave me herpes. Nonetheless, all issues are now sorted, and there were many.
