age of mythology might suit your specs
any of the C&C series (future)
the Close Combat series (a slightly different gametype though) invasion normandy the best 1 according to me
and a lot more

yeah thanx i tried c&c but ill look at the others.
yeah dave your right, i seen time commanders and it got me intrested in that kind of gaming again.

stronghold is the most historic-feeling one ive played. if that makes any sense
