I'd just like to take a minute to talk about my experience so far with the private tracker IPT

I got an invite and it was exciting to look around at all the torrents on offer, it's great to have the freeleech system there and I took full advantage of this straight away - using my seedbox to get and share a huge Jericho (tv series) torrent for a few days to get a pretty large ratio buffer going on,

However, I found out that NCIS is 19 episodes into a new season I didn't know about, so I downloaded the first episode from IPT, thinking that with 31 seeders it was going to go really fast (this has been my experience lately with thebox.bz even with 5-10 seeders just maxing out my connection). Well it started up and I gave it 5 minutes, only to find that it's only going at about 150kbps and in the folder it's full of rar files - and that means I'll have to have two copies of the show which I think sux), I actually gave it some more time but when it didn't speed up any I just gave up. So I went to isohunt, which said it had 10 seeders and started downloading it, well it turns out there's actually 26 or so, and it's the public tracker download maxes out my connection, giving it to me in about 5 minutes.

On another occasion I wanted the whole series of The Wire, and downloaded the first episode from isohunt to find that it was out-of-sync, so I decided to grab it from IPT thinking "hey - private tracker - great quality and speed right?" How wrong I was! I downloaded the 'whole' first season to find that it was all out-of-sync (you know, where the guy talks and then his mouth moves?) and I was kicking myself for the mistake. um, The thing is, I go back to the torrents comments page and there's a whole bunch of people singing it's praises! I'm the only guy there saying "hey guys? this is crap!" But you know, I shouldn't complain right? it was freeleech. But I'm pretty sure that my assumption "hey - private tracker - great quality and speed" is a natural one. Anyway I've found a good copy of the show on IPT that's large and unfree, and from now on I'm not going to put that kind of trust in them. I should now really sing the praises of thebox.bz as it was there that I learnt this trust, lol.

On a positive note, I've got to say that -compared to a public tracker- their categories+search+selection are top rate, and I'd never find a fake file there I'm sure

It is possible that some of the seeders had the very original idea of capping their upload speed and seeding that torrent just to get some bonus points. I added a torrent from there (something I couldn't find anywhere else) last December. It's almost dead, and when it downloads (it's halfway done) the speed doesn't go above 1kB/s.

If everyone was saying thanks for the upload and not complaining about the out-of-sync audio track, maybe the problem was on your end.

Yes, indeed IPT is a great tracker. Lots of content, good speeds, and easy to seed on.

Reading that reminded me of a joke I heard a long time ago: A man calls his wife on her cell phone. He says "Honey be careful on your way to the mall, I heard on the radio that there's an idiot going the wrong way on the freeway." She replies "There's not one, there's hundreds!".

Oddly whatever sympathy I might have felt waned somewhere between the words freeleech , seedbox and large ratio buffer .

Seriously if you want continue to act like an idiot * PM and we will discuss a SCC invite so that you can play with your seedbox in the appropriate sandbox.

*Yes seedboxes are truly wonderful inventions that allow us all outstanding speed when stealing stuff and they aren't merely the domain of adolescents or faux adolescents concerned primarily with the inflating of their egos .

You still have ways to go, my young padawan! Everyone knows that a huge buffer leads to the light side of the force. Silly stuff like being modest is the trade of those puny sith lords....

I really have to rewatch episodes IV-VI....
I'm back. The downside is that I'm also old now.

Shouldn't you be in school or in your room beating off or something?

Still, the question remains why you'd need a seedbox on IPT (of all trackers)? It's probably the most easy tracker to seed back in the universe. Building a big buffer isn't a challenge whatsoever, even with a relatively modest connection at home.

Good tracker that has actually always given me excellent speeds whenever I used it.

Well that was my experience, now maybe my situation? The seedbox -- I don't have alot of monthly download allowance and being able to download 'once' over ftp is invaluable (lol, or $3.50 a week as per the seedbox.fr ad on this website), plus I've found now I can turn my whining machine off (the noisy fan you see) and save $4 on power and internet usage at the same time -- so yeah a seedbox.

Personally I don't really care 'what it looks like' to use it, because I know that it's to download The Wire and The Winds of War + it's sequel safely later without fear of ratio-watch, and this is the 'right' way to start out on a private tracker that I've learnt from the rules and FAQ

Considered adding a fan controller to your CPU case? I have one of these, but when set to 30% it's practically silent while it cools pretty well.
