Best Budget Camera For Shooting Films: IYO

Looking for the most affordable camera to shoot quality film with. New to this so just looking for your advice. Price isn't as much of a concern since I'll be saving up to purchase it. More focused on your past experience and what you believe shoots the best for the buck. Thanks!

I know the Canon 7D has been used for that purpose. There are a variety of lenses, and associated accessories that compliment it (and, unfortunately, add to the cost).

This Youtube page has several shorts filmed with the camera.

Expect about $1700 for the camera, and another $2500-3000 for the equipment to make it into what you want. On the plus side, you are left with one heck of a DSLR when filming is done.

EDIT- This video will give you some ideas how to set up the camera for shooting movies- including the extras.

EDIT2- Don't forget you'll need quality sound recording, too...

I feel sorry that you'll never step out of the confine's of "Rick's Cafe" to see what gems the world truly holds. It truly is a miraculous experience and it never gets old as long as you keep searching and trying new things. Well there you go, you got what you wanted.... Conflict. Maybe that'll bring some excitement to your life. I forget what that rush feels like, unfortunately.

As for the camera info, I looked into it for my wife a year (maybe 2 now- time flies, you know), but had seen quite a few serious reviews, and similar videos to what I posted. It was nice to be able to share/rehash what I had learned, as well as seeing some of the work people have put together using the camera. Nice results, IMO.

And remember... with Canon EOS, lenses (tons of 'em) they are all compatible with other cameras- that means there are used ones available, and if you find yourself upgrading cameras in the future there will be NO need to abandon much of the gear you have invested in.

My wife and I have been using Canon EOS cameras for 15 years- and that is ONLY 2 cameras (one film-EOS Elan 2e; one 20D) which are both still in wonderful working condition, and have never needed repairs (thousands of pics shot with each camera- actually nearly 30k on the 20D) . We have never abandoned a single item. We look forward to upgrading to the 7D.

Know anything about the 7D in comparison to the 5D?

This guy seems to know his stuff, is entertaining, and professional. The bottom line- the 7D is MUCH newer, and has more advanced technologies. The 5D uses a full-frame sensor, but there is only a slight difference in side-by-side comparison and camera can be zoomed out slightly to compensate.

My money is going into a 7D. If someone gave me a 5D, I wouldn't feel a need to upgrade to the 7D and would then put my cash into gear for the 5D. Both are fantastic, and the 5D was seriously advanced for its time. Time does catch up with us all, though...

I don't suppose the thought ever crossed your mind that I'm negative toward your posts simply because you're a bit of a twat.

Btw not that you in all your brilliance would care but I was merely pointing out the incongruity in stating that you are looking for a budget camera and then in the next breath stating that "price isn't a concern".
