theres a program called Restoration.... i think SH gave it or soemthing-..... its pretty good... google it cuz i dont have link

found restoration at webattack, it did the trick, think i had it before but didnt put much faith in it or somethin, but the little bastard did the job, recovered an 11meg excel file, wasnt sure it would cause some of those apps at the site said something about limitations on recovery size (like 64k or somethin)

i once recovered a full 700 megs movie with it
a friend of mine recovered an 1.5 file once....go figure

EnCase is the most powerful recovery tool i've come across, but it's certainly not freeware or shareware...
