"Computer games don't affect kids; I mean if Pac-Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching magic pills and listening to repetitive electronic music"
53k visitors per day with 170k page views per day, could explain seemingly inflated numbers. Such a low average views/visit means it's not much to do with the regulars. 53k isn't so unbelievable, given that the site at one moment in time had (including guests):
Most users ever online was 10,317, 04-10-10 at 21:05.
Even now, guests outnumber registered 4:1, and with this site reporting about 8k active members, we can extrapolate about 32k guest appearances average over same increment of time.
