This is what I would do in your situation;
Uninstall all codecs.
Install Divx, Xvid and this player.
If is still isn't working than AmarjitSingh is right.

I have the 2 disc SVCD screener version (DVD rip), and it burned perfectly, and plays in my DVD player. Sounds like the rip you have might be bad. Keep searching for it on the network. I'm sharing it, others must be too.--

Yes, its excellent quality, ripped from the DVD screener. Do not confuse the SVCD rip with the VCD rip (which was a cam/telesync). Glad you got everything working now. --
