I was hoping it would be taken as insight rather than empathy. My point was, there's not really anything anyone can do or say to reason with him, which is why I've stayed mostly hands off with the whole thing. He's not capable of having the mindset to deal with this in any rational manner. Thus, it's a bit of a wasted effort to try to offer any direct advice.

I have to say that I understood your point and while it's something I agree with, I see nothing wrong with testing the theory for glitches.
For example, mbm did get through earlier when he said about showing the thread to his wife and kids. I like to think too that when I reiterated that the police would come to his house and his family would in all probability be made aware of his shenanigans should he go to her place again and give her cause to report him, it gave him pause.
