Thread: Computer Making Weird Noises

  1. #1
The computer makes weird noises at boot up and then stops after a while. What's wrong? Is it normal?

Yeah... Is it coming from the something inside the tower? The internal speaker? What does it sound like?

If it's a low-pitched, rapid, clicking noise... your hard drive is probably dead.

Probably sleeve bearing failure on one of your fans. Sleeve bearings are normally quieter that ball bearings, but wear out relatively quickly. Suggest you check your fans (particularly cpu fan) NOW.

    Edit: normally.

If by chance it is the cpu fan,and if it is an amd type processor...[be careful]when removing the fan or messing with the heat sink[even a little] as it can damage the chip underneath!

Where are you, The Kiler? Please tell us what type of sound you hear.

@clocker, here's another perfect situation for that snow bank.
