Thread: Download speeds with VPN dropped all of a sudden

  1. #1
    Hi guys,

    I need some help

My VPN speed has dropped from like 4.5mb/s to 600kb/s for no reason. This is the first time it's happened so i'm kinda confused, I've been using the same VPN for atleast a year..

Have they capped my speed on the VPN?

    News Reader - Grabit
    VPN Provider - nVPN.net

When I do speedtest.net with my VPN on, I hit max speed so now I'm confused..

Is this a Port capping problem?

Speedtest.net will automatically pick the server that's closest to your external IP (i.e. the VPN's). In the case of using a VPN service, that may even be within the network of the company that runs it, so you're always going to get excellent speeds.

Some quick and easy things you can do to try and identify the culprit are: changing the news server you use (in case it has multiple servers over the world), and/or enabling SSL if you believe they may be shaping news traffic.

I use Astrawebs EU SSL server if that helps anything?

Will try the US SSL and see if anything differs.

So.. I tried the US SSL server and the speed is still slow.

It's got something to do with the VPN but what?

Contact the company in question (nvpn). Come on man, common sense.
