    I too am a recent convert to the don't-put-your-batteries-in-the-bin brigade.

    I save them up in a box and squeeze them into the always-full battery recycling bucket at our local sainsbury's.

    I'm doing my little bit for the Chinese so they inherit a non-fucked environment when they take over the planet in the years to come. Oh yes.

    We recycle our plastic bags too. Also our glass, (even though it's perhaps the most abundantly readily-accessible material in the world....)

    I have never seen an appropriate place to discard batteries in public, this is why I'm puzzled. But maybe that's because I don't shop in posh supermarkets
