Definitely not from your hard drive, it only shows up for you. The picture destination needs to be where it is on your server, if it's taking a while or only loading half-way try uploading it again. The problem may just be a slow server, you can't have really high expectations when your web host was free.

Example of how to do it, if you upload to the "Images" directory in your FTP and the name of the file is "Picture.jpg"

The correct tag to put into your site would be:

If you uploaded the picture to the main directory in your FTP the tag would look like this:

Remember, different editing programs have different .jpg extensions. Paint for example is .JPG while Photoshop is .jpg. Capitals do make a difference, make sure your file name in the tag is exactly like the file name in your FTP directory.

    I hope this helps.

Here is one suggestion. Create a new folder. Always store all your images in that. Name it "images". (As also ScotchGuy suggested)
Now create your whole website offline on your computer using WYSIWYG editor like frontpage etc. Use its tools to put in the pictures (as you are beginner this would be a good idea).
Now when you upload just upload the images directory and all the pages. The page structure remains the same so everything will show up.

You don't need to write your whole host name to refer to an image. replace imagename by image's name and extension by image's extension. You dont have to worry about all this if you created everything offline using Frontpage.

Once you know what you are doing you can shift to Macromedia Dreamweaver for all this.

    Hope this helps and goodluck!

    this is from another site

    www.IBforFree.com

This site is so much better then those other free message board hosters out there. Our site AUTOMATICALLY creates FREE message boards, using the InvisionBoard software. When you sign up you get full admin control over your message board.

Now where our service is different is we provide you with 30 skins and 11 languages when your board is installed, why go with a free message board hoster that only gives you 1 default skin and 1 language and makes you pay to install more??? We give you 30 skins and 11 languages as soon as your message board is installed. You can create your board to talk about anything, as long as there is no warez, hacking or porn talk and linking to such content.

Forums names are going fast so I suggest you signup and grab yours quick. AOL users please do not use your AOL email address when signing up or you will not get your username and password in your email.

looks interesting. How is the bandwidth issue? I had one on invisionfree, wanted to make a quick one just for the family. Even with 15 users it had many problems.

I am guessing you have other page in a different folder? If you have a sub-directory in the root then you have to "..\" to go back to the main directory. You have to know the directory structure for all this.

I still recommend using frontpage for you in the begining. You wont have any problems. Once you know what you are doing then do what you like.
