I think thats a bad idea, if he starts playing around with his mums and mucks up the jumpers on that then he really is in deep water.

When you reboot your system just keep pressing F8.
No matter how bad the problem is, it should let you get to safe mode.
I think thats what he does need a Blessing LOL
it's easy to change something in the setup also.hope he hasn't changed something.souls profile says 15yrs.

I even burn off a couple of restore disks incase they get damaged, or scratched.
15 wow i think thats definatly not a wise idea, to be playing around in a pc without any experiance.
XP cant fault it, and recomened it.
I had this problem once. Invaild System Disk Error, even when there is no disk inserted. Here is what I did:
1. Open Computer
2. Disconnect the hard drives IDE cable.
2. Reconnect the hard drives IDE cable.
And it worked after that.
damn.... that sounds rough ....try maybe installing/repairing your operating system ...ie installing over what you already have so you dont lose any settings or files.....you may just have a corrupted operating system....here check this thread what i said to this guy:Help Re-installing Xp, One quick question
sounds like your operating system is corrupted....hopefull your harddrive isn't messed up
good luck ...wish you the best
yeah, same advice here. unless somebody got inside cmos settings and block your hard drive from showing or the parallel cable (from the hard drive) is loose your best bet is to re-install windows. You will need to make a boot disk (add/remove programs//startup disk). Make sure cmos is set to load from floppy as well, or if you can load from cd you won't need the floppy, (if you have a full version of win98).
Don't double or even worse triple post again "never" we all read this so you get the attention you deserve
btw added all three topics to this one single thread
