Thread: NZBS.org closing on April 19th (?)

  1. #1
    i dun goofed.

We've been convinced to keep running so we will not be shutting down this week as originally planned. Sorry for the roller coaster ride folks.

Anyways we will be switching to the beta. If you have not logged in there yet please do so. I'd recommend you check that your email address on this site is valid before logging into the beta.

NOO , i hope this is just a prank . I love that site , and it doesn't make sense since he already made a beta site , why would he close both of them? Maybe the beta site goes live on the 19th , don't know

i loved nzbs.org it was/is the 2nd best index next to the matrix, once i got my premium i never use nzbs.org anymore, rarely once and awhile. Your best option if you use that site is to get a premium at the matrix, its worth every penny you can get a disposable credit card for a few bucks at any grocery store...
lhbandit 2012-04-02 13:26:36 Hi, it's been a good run but it's time to focus on other things. As such the site will be closing on April 19th. Thanks for all your support over the last 5 years, its been a blast.
chrisrodney 2012-04-02 14:57:53 April Fools, right?
nini_ 2012-04-02 14:59:52 Kinda late but could be, same post over on the beta forum so make of it what you will.
    ron_xyzzy 2012-04-02 15:27:01 PLEASE let this be a joke.
lhbandit 2012-04-02 16:19:38 No joke, all good things must come to an end :
methodangel 2012-04-02 17:03:51 Would you be open to having someone else take over the site/hosting? Keeping it pure. I would be interested.
nini_ 2012-04-02 17:28:52 I'll wait until the 19th, if it passes then it does but I reckon this closing is less "we're done, fuck off to newzbin or something" and more "it dies but it's also reborn anew" as the beta site becomes the main site. Yknow, if this isn't some late April Fools joke. Place your crazyass theory bets people.
    sat0rn 2012-04-02 19:14:13 beta goes live 19th.
    sat0rn 2012-04-02 19:14:13 must be...
gos2k9 2012-04-02 19:20:49 I hope this site will stay up and running, good technology and good design would be sadly missed. If not I'd love to see the backend ending up under the GPL or similar so others could continue the great work that has been done here so far.
bison88 2012-04-02 19:39:48 Its funny because I was just going to say this is the only NZB site that indexes the files themselves automatically, others require users to add them. Even though it's probably a joke I wish more sites existed like this one if not for stability purposes lol.
kingd0m 2012-04-02 19:55:36 nini_, sat0rn: There's a message on the beta forum also stating the site will be closing on the 19th.
nini_ 2012-04-02 20:24:58 Mentioned the beta forum message already, third post. Gotta commit to the lie tho right, even stopping the spiders for the duration. Why the hell stop the spiders indexing when the close date is over two weeks away? Beats me.
fjolle 2012-04-02 20:35:10 Aw man. Where to go now?
patrickvanc 2012-04-02 20:43:23 nzb.su will be an alternative, but this site is better. Why dont you try to sell this site? You will earn a little money. You will not have to put any more energy in this site. And we will be able to use this site for at least an other 5 years. Sounds like win-win.
mutumbo 2012-04-03 04:12:51 Unfortunately this is the result of PIPA and SOPA
kklord 2012-04-03 04:26:26 You should open source the code. Put it on github or something.
spankit 2012-04-03 05:13:55 Very sad announcement indeed, this was easily the best site for nzbs. Anyone have a list of alternative sites?
memsaheeb 2012-04-03 07:14:38 You brought so many wonderful things to my life, you will be missed!
mls100 2012-04-03 07:24:43 Oh man, this is terrible news. Thanks for all your hard work, this site is easily the best out there.
akropolis 2012-04-03 07:32:55 Noo don't do it! This site is the best!
graphix2004 2012-04-03 10:39:09 if your done with it, do what torrentbits did in the very begining which spawned every torrent site out there release your source code open source so millions of others can then re-create this site and keep it alive for the better. just remember if torrentbits would of just said bye, without any source code being released TBDev would never of existed! thus all your sites wouldn't exist. by not releasing the code your just handing the maffia's the golden keys infact i would go to say this site wouldn't of even been created without the help from torrentbits original snapshot source code. don't kill nzb indexing by being selfish. and good luck with everything you plan to do in the future.
dazz0r 2012-04-03 10:59:55 Please let this not be true...
jihadjoe 2012-04-03 11:32:22 Will you be continuing your work with the Newznab project ?
xtraclick 2012-04-03 13:08:02 terrible news , i hope this is just a prank for april 1st
chewie4u 2012-04-03 13:19:31 Anyway... whatever happens (and/or happened), good luck for your "other things", so long and thanks again a million times for all the fish.
s-assazin 2012-04-03 14:09:31 Sad news, I loved this site compared to other indexers. Thanks for all the hard work.
kev-k 2012-04-03 14:16:04 As an ex admin of a site doing stuff™ I understand the issues of running a site like this on a personal level, you have to put yourself/family first. Especially with all the crap happening now. I wish you all the best for the future, this is/was a great resource. So long and thanks for all the fish
    rockstarx 2012-04-03 14:20:52 Please noooooo..... !!!

It was always a handy tool for new NZB users who didn't know how to weed out the obvious fakes, but I found usenet search engines to be much better at finding things, many of which NZBs.org/Newznab failed to pick up

What about all those (repeated) promises that the site would soon open registrations again?

Actually JustDose I bought Newznab plus back in October to support the project.

Search engines are good , but there are a lot of fakes even with experienced users . I hope that nzbs.org stays online because it's a great indexer , very simple and does the job done

Don't feed the troll. He is just trying to get on everyone's nerve, I'm surprised this child hasn't been banned from FST yet. The admins must be sleeping.
