In "internet options",
Click on connections.
Under connections, there are 3 choices:
1:"never dial a connection"
2:"dial whenever a network connection is not present"
3."always dial my default connection"
I have it set on number 3 ..."always dial my default connection"
But the setting is constantly changing to number 1..."never dial a connection"
I set it on number 3 and come back to check a minute or two later, and it has switched to number 1.
By being set on number 1, if my internet disconnects for any reason, it will not re-connect on it's own, because the setting has change to "never dial a connection."
Can anybody tell me how to get the setting to remain the same?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

If its AOL they use about 5 different dial up numbers when you connect.
So you cant auto dial up once disconnected.

Thats why I was asking, AOL uses its own dialer program. If your on 8.0, go to Keyword: Reconnect

Scan your system, it sounds like a virus.

I am connected through a dial up company that uses MSN.
I have never even logged on to AOL.
Also, I have checked and there is no virus.
What else could cause this problem?
Thanks to everyone who answered this and tried to help.
