A simple question, you say you have had seedboxes before, have you configured linux distros remotely? If so which ones? This isn't a huge mission, but a bit of background would help. As for the VPS itself the machine does not need to be that powerful it needs a relatively small hard drive basic RAM and not even a stellar CPU for the task it will be set in fact it only needs a 100m connection based on your connection speeds. All you want to do with this machine is create a VPN tunnel so that the originating IP address for BT transactions is not your home IP address provided by your ISP. More than one person can access the VPN so your 'friend' can also access this once configured from a different location.
The learning curve isn't steep, but there is a learning curve, it's like anything else really.....
