I have a problem when setting up a FTP server via cPanel. In fact, I have doubts that cPanel can handle that.
I tried the available panel options but it only allows to create accounts for specified folders/users, but it doesn't assign specific privileges properly. (e.g. write access to a user, read access to another user)
When I tried to change the permissions via FTP client (Filezilla), the permissions reverts back, no change at all. Maybe it's because of my hosting provider but I'm not sure of that.
Do you have any software recommendations for setting up a FTP server or maybe any information I should know before setting this up?

Have you tried making changes using the command line, rather than the GUI control panel?

(I know it seems like that defeats the whole purpose of using Cpanel, but in almost any software, the command line is where the real power is found. )

I'm not sure if I have an access via command line, never tried that before. I think I should ask my hosting provider.
