may I suggest not to get teh kaza codec pack as it is very buggy and XP has problem with DIVx fiels wit the kaza codec pack KingJohns Codec Pack V7 is the one I use and you can install each codec seperatly which is better.

so unistal all the codecs you have and try it

yeah i also seem to have problems with playing movies in wmp, bs player and the like, the k-lite codec pack makes no diffrence.

Videolan is a great player but i have noticed than the sound quality is not what it could be.

Could it be you have a corrupt frame or two at the beginning of the film, which is causing the video to freeze while the audio continues?

Try skipping past the first minute or so of the film or try removing the corrupt frames.

Thx guys and gals for the suggestions

But keep the 'codecs ones' out plzz... I don't think it's a codecs problem!!!
Namely as mentioned 3 times before...
GSpot analysed the file and detected the necessary codecs needed for the file r available, in the right place on my comp.
So, unless u have the same problem with the same files and after analysing them and know absolutely sure it is a codecs problem... tell me

I'm rather thinkin it's, like Skillian suggests a corrupt frame prob...
    So some1 suggested DivFix
Tried it and indeed corrected some corrupted frames ... so my hopes got high...
    but not for long
    :teehee: :teehee:
Yes I already tried to skip with the slide bar.... it stays on the same frame (and only the audio moves)

If u want a good file (until now it is in AVIPreview) I suggest u d/l the following filename
Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003).avi (719164kB)
it's XviD encoded and works so far
    3de keer scheepsrecht
    as we say here

Concerning the other files... keep the suggestions comin
maybe I can share them when fixed
